Women creating a sustainable future
Mujeres Del Árbol
A training center for women in the Urabá region, Colombia, to cultivate knowledge, land, and hope
In Colombia, despite legislative progress toward gender equality and environmental protection, challenges persist, particularly in rural areas like Urabá. Women still face economic and social inequalities, while deforestation and illegal land exploitation threaten biodiversity. In response, local initiatives are essential to supporting women and promoting sustainable practices.
The Mujeres Del Árbol project, led by Greenseed and the Grupo Internacional de Paz, trains women in Urabá in permaculture, providing them with skills in sustainable resource management, agroforestry, and eco-tourism, while also offering psychological support, particularly for survivors of gender-based violence. By fostering green entrepreneurship, the project helps strengthen their economic independence and role in environmental conservation.
Through this integrated approach, Mujeres Del Árbol creates a sustainable and equitable development model where nature conservation and economic opportunities for women go hand in hand. By developing autonomous and profitable agricultural projects, these women become key contributors to their communities, helping build a more resilient and sustainable future for Urabá.
